[Updated 2007]
OFFICIAL RULES & REGULATIONS

Adair County Fair Association
Mud Bog Races

SECTION 1 - GENERAL INFORMATION

  1. ALL RULINGS MADE BY Adair County Fair OFFICIALS ARE FINAL. Drivers who insist on arguing with a Fair Official will be disqualified and escorted off the fairgrounds immediately. Pit Members, family members, and team members that argue with Fair Officials will also cause their driver to be disqualified and all of those involved will be escorted off the fairgrounds immediately. In other words, if you or someone on your team has a big mouth, Please Stay Home. THIS RULE SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN LIGHTLY!! All Fair Officials are un-paid volunteers, if you insist on making this job harder than it already is; we assure you that we will stop having Mud Bog Races. It’s up to you, the drivers, and your chosen team members, to conduct yourselves with some kind of sportsmanship. If this rule is too hard for you to understand, please do not attend our events.

  2. Only one driver and one passenger will be allowed per vehicle, while participating in our event. All drivers and passengers must be at least 18 years of age, and should be prepared to prove their age with a valid form of picture identification.

  3. Anyone purchasing a pit pass must be at least 18 years of age, unless accompanied by their legal guardian. That legal guardian will be held accountable, for all actions, of any minor, that they have responsibility for. The Pit Area is dangerous, and not to be considered a Tiny Tots playground. If we find any children un-attended, anywhere in the Pit Area, your family will be asked to leave the event immediately.

  4. All drivers must remain sober during the event. Any participant caught consuming any type of alcoholic beverages or illegal substances during the event will be immediately disqualified.

  5. Please leave your pets at home! This event is for humans only. No one wants to step into a fresh pile of poo on race day. That’s just bad luck!

  6. Please leave your ATV’s at home! ATV’s will be in use by the Fair Officials Only. This event is not to be mistaken for play-time in the pasture.

  7. You must wear a helmet and seatbelt to drive or ride in this event. Helmets will not be provided. In other words, bring your own helmets.

  8. Your vehicle must have working four-wheel drive. Your four-wheel drive will be tested before you register for the days events. There is an Outlaw exemption to this rule: If you have a 2-wheel drive vehicle, it will be up to a Fair Official to decide if your vehicle is eligible to compete in the Outlaw Class.

  9. Your vehicle must have two working brakes. No exceptions!!

  10. Any vehicle with studded tires or tire chains will not be allowed.

  11. Any vehicle with tires not regulated for highway use (implement tires, skid loader tires, etc.), will automatically place that vehicle in the Outlaw class.

  12. The batteries in all vehicles must be tied down in a safe location.

  13. It is your responsibility to make your race vehicle safe to withstand any type of contact or rollover.

  14. All race vehicles must have a designated area, in the front and rear, where our tow cable or chain can be attached. Examples of this would be a ball hitch, clevis, tow hook, or a one foot tow chain attached to the frame. This will insure a safe and speedy recovery of any vehicle stuck in the mud. Vehicles will not be allowed to register without these items.

  15. Your registered number must be visible to all Fair Officials in the staging lanes and from registration. You will not be allowed to leave the staging lanes and proceed to the start line, until your number is moved to an appropriate position.

  16. All interiors and pickup boxes of any race vehicle must be completely cleaned out before they will be allowed to race. This includes trash, tools, spare tires, shot gun shells, your date, or anything else that can be thrown from the vehicle during the race.

  17. Only registered drivers are allowed to participate in our events. There will be no “driver swapping” in any vehicles. Your number is registered to you, in a certain vehicle, not to the vehicle itself. If you did not register for the day’s events, you should not drive during the days events. Breaking this rule will result in a disqualification for both the driver and the passenger.

  18. You must finish the race day in the same vehicle that you registered. You will not be allowed to switch vehicles, if the registered one breaks down. So sorry, but we don’t want to hear any more whining. Maybe you should get a better mechanic.

  19. Rolling starts will no longer be allowed under any circumstances. All races will start, from a stand still, at the start line. Please don’t ask there will be no exceptions. Please build your race vehicles accordingly.

  20. You must give a hand signal or wave to the flag man starting the race, to acknowledge that you are staged and ready to start. The flag man can not see you nodding!

  21. You must stay within the boundaries for your lane. All boundary disqualifications will be at the discretion of the Fair Officials. And remember, NO ARGUING!!

  22. All drivers and passengers must keep their arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times. Yes, just like when you’re on a roller coaster! If you are caught with so much as your elbow or pinkie toe, outside of the door frame of your vehicle you just lost a flag. Hope it’s not your last flag!! So don’t forget, and make sure to choose your passengers accordingly!

  23. We will not tolerate any type of “lagging behind” in the staging lanes. We have drivers who think that if they lag back they won’t have to race their buddies or a driver they don’t think they can beat. This is considered cheating and it will not be tolerated. Anyone caught will be automatically disqualified FOR LIFE, and will be escorted from the grounds immediately. WE HATE CHEATERS!!

  24. You must enter the staging lanes, immediately following your completed race run. If you are in need of repair, and need to head to the pits, you must alert a Fair Official, so that they may “HOLD” your spot in line. They will keep your place until it becomes your turn to race. You will automatically lose a flag, if you do not show up in time for your race.  When it’s your turn to race, and you aren’t in line, YOU LOSE. Easy enough to comprehend!!

  25. When you enter the staging lanes after a race, you must line up in the opposite lane. In other words, if you just raced in the grandstand lane, then you would line up in the pit lane. In the event that we have continuous wins in the same lane then every other driver will be pulled into the lane that you just competed in by Officials.  Please do not sit in the staging lanes and argue with the Officials about where you are supposed to be. Even though you may be confused, we know what we’re doing

  26. There is no reason for anyone, but Fair Officials, to be on the track. You can not coach your drivers, by running out to the start line, before the flag is dropped. That is what the staging lanes are supposed to be used for. We do not need your help to tow out a race vehicle, or to flip over a rolled race vehicle. We also do not need your help when we are fixing the track. We can see the holes and ruts, and we can fix them ourselves. We thought this was pretty obvious, but I guess we need to print it in the rule book, for all of you who have no common sense to speak of.

  27. Once the races have begun for the day, there is no reason, for you, or any members of your race team, to go anywhere near the announcer’s stand. We know that you would like to complain about the calls that were made on the track, but we really don’t care. And don’t forget, complaining will get you kicked out of here, and our announcer will be more that happy to broadcast your stupidity for our crowd’s entertainment. Once registration is over, the Announcer’s Stand is for FAIR OFFICIALS ONLY!

  28. As always, if you don’t understand any of these rules, please make sure to ask, before you decide to participate in our events. If you don’t think you can follow these rules, please don’t register, we don‘t want you!! You’ll just be another driver who got kicked out of the fairgrounds. If you think you can follow all these rules, to the letter, we would love to have you as a part of our Association. And we wish you all good luck
